Mike Mills: Wikipedia says he's awesome - REMurmur Proves It

09 July 2008

Well what does Mr Wikipedia think about Mr Mike Mills? He's known as R.E.M.'s bassist and the geeky dude that does harmony and wheres silly nudie suits on stage.

Most people have no idea he writes songs like Let Me In and plays other instruments...

Indeed wikipedia starts out with:

"Though known primarily as a bassist, piano player and background singer, his musical repertoire includes many other keyboard, guitar, string, wind and percussion instruments. He also contributes to much of the band's songwriting.

Yeah Yeah, those stars all shine down like butter. Remurmur wants to know what else?"

"He is responsible for the songwriting of some of R.E.M.'s songs, including "Find the River", "At My Most Beautiful", "Why Not Smile", "Let Me In", "Wendell Gee", "(Don't Go Back To) Rockville", "Beat a Drum", "Be Mine" and "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?". In addition to providing backing melodies, he has also sung lead vocals on "Texarkana", "Near Wild Heaven", The Clique cover "Superman" and The Troggs cover, "Love Is All Around"."

Find the River, people, the second best song on Automatic for the People. The Drummer wrote the best song! The drummer! They usually only get drool on their IQ tests! We can argue about the Troggs cover another day. But lets just say Wet Wet Wet did a better one eh?

OK I'm slightly convinced, Mike Mills might be awesome, so prove it one and for all?

He's In R.E.M.
