Peter Buck playing the Rickenbacker for the last time?
This guitar is as famous for Peter as BB King's Lucille. It has been the staple of Peter's arsenal both live in concert and in the studio since the R.E.M. released the E.P. Chronic Town in 1982.
Needless to say, this instrument means a great deal to Peter and to R.E.M. They have moved to rename Helsinki, Helstinki.

REMHQ has put out a reward for the guitar "It is our sincere hope that whoever is responsible for the loss, or whoever has information which can help recover the guitar, will come forward to receive a generous reward, no questions asked."

"We are very, very thrilled to announce that Peter's prized Rickenbacker guitar was returned to the band by an anonymous source late yesterday. The guitar had been missing since September 9th after it disappeared from the stage following the band's concert in Helsinki, Finland.
